Liposuction Techniques

How fat is loosened and how skin responds — the two decisions that separate every technique below. Tumescent local anesthesia is the foundation of all of them.

Anatomy-first

Liposuction by Body Area

Each region has its own fat pattern, skin behavior, and safe cannula pathway. Browse by anatomic zone, or jump to the whole-region page.

Multi-procedure planning

Combination Procedures

Most Miami cosmetic body cases are combinations. Liposuction is the workhorse adjunct to tummy tucks, BBLs, lifts, and gynecomastia surgery.

Liposuction by Patient & Life Stage

Male vs. female anatomy, post-partum bodies, post-weight-loss laxity, and older skin each call for a different plan.

What liposuction can and cannot do

Liposuction refines stubborn fat pockets and restores proportion. Combined with radiofrequency or helium-plasma skin tightening it addresses mild-to-moderate laxity. It cannot substitute for weight loss, reliably improve cellulite, correct significant loose skin on its own, or repair a separated rectus abdominis — those need lifts, tummy tucks, or lifestyle intervention.

Frequently asked questions

What is liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical body-contouring procedure that removes localized, exercise-resistant fat deposits through small cannulas. It reshapes proportions but is not a treatment for obesity, cellulite, or loose skin.
Am I a candidate?
Good candidates are within roughly 30% of a stable goal weight, have firm skin elasticity, are non-smokers or willing to stop, in good general health, and have realistic goals about contouring rather than weight loss.
Which technique is best?
There is no single best technique. Tumescent is the safety foundation; VASER and PAL efficiently emulsify fat; HD targets muscle-etching outcomes; BodyTite and Renuvion add skin tightening for mild-to-moderate laxity.
How much does it cost in Miami?
Miami liposuction typically ranges from about $4,500 for a single small area to $18,000+ for Lipo 360 with skin tightening. Quotes cover surgeon fee, anesthesia, facility, garments, and follow-up.
How long is recovery?
Most patients return to desk work in 5–10 days, resume light cardio at 2–3 weeks, and reach 80–90% of final contour at 3 months. Residual swelling can improve for up to a year.
Are results permanent?
Removed fat cells do not regenerate, but remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain. Long-term results depend on stable weight, nutrition, and consistent activity.
Is liposuction the same as a tummy tuck?
No. Liposuction removes fat but does not tighten skin or repair diastasis. When loose skin or a diastasis is present, a lipoabdominoplasty (lipo + tummy tuck) is often more appropriate.
What are the main risks?
Bleeding, infection, contour irregularity, seroma, sensory changes, blood clots, and (with energy devices) thermal injury. A complete personalized risk discussion is part of every consultation.
